Remember the year 2000?
Compact discs. iPod Nanos. MySpace. Napster. Rock radio.
A quarter century ago, the needle dropped on Y2K — and for the decade to follow, I was there to eat up all the music. My own aspirations and some bandmates from that era afforded me a front row seat to the apex of nu metal and the advent of hipster rock. My radio day job gave me access to Britney & Christina, *N Sync & The Backstreet Boys, Coldplay, Moby & Eminem.
Most of that stuff was garbage, but some of it was gold — and of course, if you dug deep enough into the record racks, you were bound to unearth some gems.
Here’s my 200 favorite of the 2000s (‘00-’09), updated (mostly) daily….
200. ?????
